About the Curly-Coated Retriever

The Curly-Coated Retriever is an enchanting breed with a rich history that dates back to the 18th century in England, where they were originally developed for retrieving waterfowl. With their distinctive curly coat and charming personality, these medium-sized dogs have become beloved companions for families and individuals alike. Their friendly and affectionate temperament makes them a wonderful addition to any household, and they especially thrive in environments where they can engage with young children and other pets.

Known for their moderate energy levels, Curly-Coated Retrievers enjoy regular exercise such as long walks, playtime in the yard, or even a fun swim. While they are not excessively high-energy, they do require consistent activities to keep them happy and healthy. Despite their slightly above-average shedding, grooming is fairly easy, with just a monthly brushing needed to maintain their unique coat and minimize shedding around the home.

Thanks to their intelligence and eagerness to please, these dogs are quite trainable, making learning new commands and tricks a rewarding experience for both the dog and the owner. Their social nature and tendency to get along well with other dogs, as well as a reasonable friendliness towards cats, allow them to adapt to various living situations, though they are not the best fit for apartment living due to their need for space to roam. If you’re considering welcoming a Curly-Coated Retriever into your family, you can be sure you’re choosing a loyal and loving companion that will bring joy and activity to your life, whether you find them at Petland Fort Myers, Florida or elsewhere.
